South African Winelands
At 27 to 34 degrees, the South African Winelands share the same southern latitude as South Australia and the Margaret River in Western Australia. The traditional winelands traverse the sunny valleys and foothills between the mountains and the ocean.
South Africa has five wine regions, divided into fourteen very diverse wine districts, classified under the country's Wine of Origin Scheme. The South African Wine of Origin Scheme denotes the Varietal, Vintage and the Producer of the wine. Kumala Wines come from the Western Cape area, which encapsulates all of the fourteen districts. This helps ensure quality and consistency as well as the diversity of the varietal characteristics.
